Tom Dauer, born in 1969, grew up in Mexico City and Munich. His parents taught him to love the mountains, and he later spent many years traveling and climbing around the globe. As an alpinist and climber, he has visited the Patagonian Andes, the Himalayas and the Karakoram. The literary scholar and graduate of the German School of Journalism prefers to work in the mountains of the world, where he can combine his passion and profession. He writes books about mountains, alpinism and adventure, including the standard work \"Cerro Torre - Mythos Patagonien\" as well as the biographies \"Reinhard Karl - Ein Leben ohne Wenn und Aber\" and \"Kurt Albert - frei klettern, frei denken, frei sein\". He was a columnist for ALPIN magazine for 18 years, and his texts have appeared in BERGUNDSTEIGEN for the past three years. As a screenwriter and director, Tom Dauer has made numerous award-winning documentaries. The feature film \"Streif - One Hell of a Ride\" - for which he was writer and co-director - was awarded the ROMY, the Austrian Film Prize. Tom Dauer is curator of the Alpen Film Festival and has been director of the Tegernsee Mountain Film Festival since 2024.
