Marco Black

This man is a mystery to everyone. After all, Marco Schwarz is not only gifted at carving through slalom and giant slalom poles, he can also master the dangerous changes of direction in the super-G and downhill just as elegantly and seemingly effortlessly. He made the scene sit up and take notice with the best time in the final training session for the downhill at the 47th Alpine World Ski Championships in Courchevel 2023 – in the race, he came in fourth place, only slightly behind. The Austrian thus skied at world-class level in all disciplines – only skiing legends such as Jean-Claude Killy and Bode Miller achieved something similar. Unfortunately, a serious crash at the start of the 2023/24 season on the Stelvio in Bormio put an abrupt end to Marco Schwarz’s hopes of winning the overall World Cup. It will be all the more exciting to see how the Carinthian returns to the fast slopes after his recovery. Nobody knows yet when and where the Austrian, who is always at peace with himself, will ski his first downhill – Marco Schwarz, an enigma.
